What conditions can a footrest help with?

  • Lymphedema – This is swelling due to a lack of drainage in the lymphatic system. A footrest can be beneficial for people with lymphedema by helping to manage swelling in the legs and feet. For this, we would advise a footrest such as the HAG Quickstep, as it’s movable so stimulates circulation.
  • Pregnancy – A footrest can be incredibly helpful during pregnancy by promoting better posture, reducing swelling, and enhancing overall comfort. Anything with a larger amount of adjustability would be advised here, such as the dual Footform which can keep up with the rapid changes of the soon to be mother.
  • Foot and leg injuries – Footrests are perfect for anyone suffering from an injury as they take weight off, allow for a more comfortable sitting position and can be adjusted to fit the person uniquely.

There are obviously a lot more conditions that footrests can help with and if you have something that you would like to enquire about contact us.

How high should I have my leg rest?

  1. Knees should never be higher than your hips

This is so important as, unless you have been instructed by a professional, having your knees higher than your hips introduces a C shape in the spine which can cause further issues.

  1. Feet lay flat on footrest

Your feet should lie flat, without discomfort or strain. If your feet dangle when you are sitting in your office chair, a footrest would be the perfect solution for you.

  1. Adjustability

We would always recommend a footrest that is adjustable so that if anything changes with you as a person, your footrest can change right with you. This also means they are a longer-term investment for all aspects of your working life.
