A day in the life of a Posture People intern

For the past 10 weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of having Amro Mahmoud join our offices as a Marketing Intern from Sussex University. Wanting to know what a day in the life of a Posture People intern is really like, we asked him to make some observations from his time here.

1.The Posture People Team

Where do I start? Let’s talk about the Posture People. The Posture People family is a great bunch of people. Although they all work incredibly hard, they are always having a laugh and maintain team a very positive outlook on life. Their positivity is super infectious. There is a strong team unity and as a member of staff, I am treated very well. When I started, I entered the Posture People office and discovered an amazing group of people that welcomed me with warmth. I could not have asked for a better start. This meant I had hit the ground running.

2.My Workspace

On my first day, I was introduced to my standing desk and had my pick of ergonomic chairs. This desk, now named “Amro’s Corner” (which became official after I created my very own name plaque) has become my home for the past few months. I have made it my very own by organising things the way I like. Post-it notes are lifesavers and now dominate the majority of Amro’s Corner.

3.Office Music & Emily’s Music Taste

The Posture People office is a platform for music sharing and deep appreciation for the large array of sounds and music this world has to offer. We jam to Bollywood, chilled out playlists, feel-good Friday (every Friday of course) and several amazing movie soundtracks. As for Emily, my amazing boss, she knows 99.99% of all songs that have ever existed. It is a very rare sightseeing Emily (THE BOSS) hearing a song, me asking her if she knows the song and her replying that she doesn’t. I did experience this once. That was a once in a lifetime moment, like seeing a unicorn that doesn’t exist, in the enchanted forest that also doesn’t actually exist.

4.M&S Runs

We have reached the point in the blog where we discuss the famous Posture People Marks & Spencer’s (M&S) runs. Each day, when one member of the team is already at or is planning on going to Marks & Spencer, they communicate to the entire team and ask for the list of each team members’ desired groceries. Then the desired groceries are obtained and returned to their rightful owners to be engulfed in seconds and never to be seen again. As a result, I have found a new favourite snack in sour green sliced Granny Smith apples and crunchy peanut butter dip. I KID YOU NOT, it is something out of this world.

It has been a great pleasure to be part of the Posture People team. I have experienced a large array of activities that have allowed me to develop my skill set further and build upon my understanding of how businesses are run in the real world. The overall experience has been extremely valuable. I had the opportunity to meet some great people and to implement a lot of the knowledge I have learned throughout my degree so far. Most importantly for me, I got to witness my efforts and choices make a real difference in the business. I would like to thank everyone who helped make this opportunity possible.

We wish Amro the best of luck in the last leg of his Business degree! If you would like to enquire about an internship with Posture People in the future, please contact us via the Sussex Internship Programme.
