Outdoor furniture solutions for al fresco meetings

The traditional 9-5 has changed over the past couple of years and it looks likely that the trend for hybrid working will continue. Time at home, time in the office and – one step further, time outdoors is the new working week. Some businesses were well ahead of the curve, for example, Microsoft built outdoor office spaces back in 2017 and has been delighted with the results.

The benefits of outdoor working, which, for so many of us, began during the pandemic as a way to ‘stay safe’ are now almost universally accepted. Increasingly, a wide range of studies reveal the fantastic benefits of some outdoor time, from reducing stress to lowering blood pressure. Outdoor breaks away from our screens have been proven to boost productivity (as well as a sense of wellbeing)  and have even been linked to improved decision-making.

Not only that, once the sun comes out, you’ll also reap the benefits of a dose of vitamin D! Even if we’re experiencing the temperamental British weather, a study reported in the Journal of Environmental Psychology found that even regular ‘microbreaks’ such as looking at nature through a window or at an image of nature on a screen, genuinely helped workplace performance.

Benefits, then, all-around! Posture People enjoy a ‘walking meeting’ from time to time as we’ve found for ourselves, the benefits of taking a walk in the fresh air for a while can change perspective and re-energise us.

The Outdoor Pod – Meeting Pod Company

The Outdoor Pod featured in Bahrain, 2020

Need an outdoor meeting ‘room’ that’s fit for up to 8 people? The Outdoor Pod could be the answer. There are three options; open, partly enclosed or fully enclosed (all have overhead shelter). The seating is cushioned with a fixed table and flooring and the pods can be situated on a variety of different bases from grass to block paving or even a rooftop terrace. Mains connection and heating are an option and the company will even include a solar calculator to ensure your pod is situated in the optimum position to make the most of solar energy.

Dave Blood, director of Love Your Workspace, Posture People’s sister company responsible for workplace design says: “We love working with this company and they have an interesting backstory. They are based on the Isle of Wight and use yacht-building techniques to weather-proof their materials”.
